Gebuwin ATEX Coding explained

All manual and electric winches from Gebuwin are available with ATEX certification for zones 2 and 22. Below, we delve deeper into the specific coding for the manual winches:

Specific coding

The codings have the following meanings:

  1. CE marking in accordance with the European Machinery Directive.
  2. Ex marking for explosion safety.
  3. Group II for use in all environments (industrial use) except mining.
  4. Category 3, indicating the protection level and suitability for:
    • G (gas environments)
    • D (dust environments)
      Followed by ‘Ex’ (explosion-proof).
  5. Suitable for:
    • II (Gas Group II)
    • III (Dust Group III)
Our marine (MR) winches have a higher ignition energy (IIB) in the gas group than our worm gear and spur gear (WW/TL) winches (IIC).
The ignition energy for the dust group is the same for all types of winches, namely IIIC.
  6. Temperature class for:
    • T4 (temperature <135 ºC), T135ºC (temperature <135 ºC)
    • T3 (temperature <200 ºC), T200ºC (temperature <200 ºC)
Our worm gear and marine (WW/MR) winches have a T4 marking. Our spur gear (TL) winches have a T3 marking.
  7. Equipment Protection Level:
    • Gc (gas) or Dc (dust)
  8. Ambient temperature for operation between -20ºC and 70ºC.

*This coding is established in accordance with the 2014/34/EU (ATEX 114) standard.

Gebuwin manual winches can also be used with a pneumatic motor AM5000, which is also ATEX certified. If you are not familiar with the requirements for ATEX certification, let us advise you. Contact us for more information.
